After living with A1c readings ranging from 5.7% to 5.9% for four years, Anne-Marie wanted help understanding prediabetes and, most importantly, how to improve her blood sugar through nutrition and lifestyle changes rather than taking metformin.

She joined the Prediabetes Reset Program wanting answers and practical guidance.

Over the 16-week program, Anne-Marie lowered her A1c from 5.9% to 5.5%, moving from prediabetes into the normal range.

“I could not have brought my daily blood readings to the normal range without the information I learned in this program.”

Her doctor was impressed and delighted with the results.

“MD regards my success on DMP as proof that prediabetes can be reversed, and lifestyle change is everything.”

Learning How Food Affected Her Blood Sugar

One of the biggest lessons Anne-Marie learned was understanding how her body responded to different foods.

“Everything is portion size and testing before and after meals to understand how your body reacts to food.”

After completing the Prediabetes Program, Anne-Marie chose to continue as a VIP Member to help maintain her results and receive ongoing support. That support helped her continue refining her approach and maintain her A1c in the normal range long term.

Challenges Along the Way

The journey wasn’t without challenges.

“It was not easy to stick to the low carb plan, and keep a food diary, but it worked and is still working. I understand how my body reacts to food now,” Anne-Marie shared.

Another challenge was that she lost around 12 pounds (5.4kg).

Unlike many people with prediabetes, weight loss was not her goal, and she has continued working on gaining and maintaining weight while keeping her blood sugar in the normal range.

Two Years Later: Maintaining Normal A1c Levels

Today, Anne-Marie has maintained an A1c of 5.6% in the normal range for two years.

“People are surprised and impressed that I reversed the prediabetes trajectory and returned to normal,” she said.

Looking back on her journey, Anne-Marie says the education and support she received from DMP made all the difference.

“You helped me understand what was needed more than doctors did.”

And even after two years of success, she continues to fine-tune her eating pattern and monitor her responses, knowing that understanding her own body is one of the most valuable lessons she has learned.

“Your service is wonderful. I have now been in the normal range for two years, having left the prediabetes range.”

What We Can Learn From Anne-Marie’s Story

Anne-Marie’s experience shows that prediabetes doesn’t always have to progress to type 2 diabetes.

After four years of A1c results in the prediabetes range, she was able to lower her A1c into the normal range by learning how food affected her blood sugar, adjusting portion sizes, reducing carbohydrates, and testing before and after meals.

Her story also shows that success is not always about weight loss. For Anne-Marie, the bigger challenge became maintaining her weight while keeping her blood sugar in a healthy range. We have resources and support to help our members do that as well.

The real win is that she now understands how her own body responds to food, and she has used that knowledge to maintain normal A1c levels for two years — Anne-Marie’s prediabetes is in remission.

So, there is no stopping her now, she has the knowledge, tools and motivation to maintain long term prediabetes remission and we’re proud to have been a part of her journey to better health.
