For quite a number of years now I’ve created a vision board.
After seeing how many things have become a reality from those vision boards over the years, I definitely believe it helps to bring more success into your life, which is why I wanted to share how you can create one for yourself.
Now success can mean anything – it could mean taking a holiday, moving house, lowering blood sugar, paying off debt, or going on a traveling adventure.
What a vision board does is create a visual representation of all the things you want to bring into your life – relationship, career, family, health, and so forth. It’s a way of creating your dreams, helping to bring them into reality.
As I said, I create a new vision board every year on the last day of the year. It gets posted on my bedroom wall and acts as a daily reminder of all my goals. When I wake up in the morning it’s the first thing I see, I spend a few minutes just thinking about my goals and aspirations. It’s also the last thing I see before going to bed and I do the same thing by thinking about each goal or desire.
Over the past few years amazing things have occurred and I believe it’s all because of that vision board! For some reason it is a very powerful thing.
How to create a vision board
Set the goals
First you need to sit down and work out what your goals are. What do you want for your life both now and into the future?
Once you are clear on your goals, then you can start putting your vision board together.
Creating Your Vision Board
Creating a vision board is easy. There are a couple of ways people commonly do it. Some people use magazine pictures and paste them onto cardboard. Others use pictures and words onto pin boards. I like an even simpler way that brings out the child in me – I used to love coloring in. :)
I get some colored felt pens or pencils and draw bubbles or boxes of things.
The image below is not a vision board but I might do it something like this. I just use colored pens to write sections or little pictures of my goals and visions.
See how you can use pictures, words, quotes, or anything that is going to act like a reminder for you about where you want to go. For instance, if you wanted a new car, you might post an image of the type of car you really want.
Things you might include on your vision board
Include your own self, your relationships, your job and career, what adventures you’d like to go on, what things you would like to manifest in your life in the coming year.
We set our goals for the next year and we also have a 5 year goal section at the top of our board. That’s the place my partner and I set our big picture plan.
It really is such a great way to bring wonderful things into your life and keep yourself on track so I hope you’ll give it a go.

I am making a vision board for this year (have no idea why this is coming out in cAPS?) I have recently been told I am type 2 diabetic. I have been working hard on my diet and hope my follow up appt jan9 shows improvement. I am determined to do this without drugs! I hATE HATE HATE needles and the thought of deliberately poking myself several times a day is just hard to imagine.
I really like Tom Hortons whiteboard, in that it can be erased and reformed as new ideas come to light. However, I want also a 2nd board to show my other dreams for this year.

Great stuff Jody. A vision board helps a lot because it reminds us to stay focused!
My vision board is pretty big and fits everything I need. But you could have 2 if that works better for you. Have fun with it, and best of luck with getting your health on track. :)
